Important Info about Cialis®

What is Cialis®?

Cialis® (tadalafil) is a prescription medication used to treat erectile dysfunction (ED) and symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). It works by relaxing blood vessels, improving blood flow to specific areas of the body, such as the penis, to help achieve and maintain an erection when sexually aroused.

Cialis® is not intended for use by women or children, and it should not be taken without a doctor’s supervision.

Who should not use Cialis®?

You should not take Cialis® if you:

  • Are taking medications called nitrates (e.g., nitroglycerin), often used for chest pain. Combining Cialis® with nitrates can cause a dangerous drop in blood pressure.
  • Use guanylate cyclase (GC) stimulators like riociguat for pulmonary hypertension.
  • Have a known allergy to tadalafil or any of the ingredients in Cialis®.

If you are unsure whether Cialis® is safe for you, consult your doctor before starting treatment.

How should I take Cialis®?

Cialis® is available in two main dosing options:

  • As-needed use: Take one tablet at least 30 minutes before sexual activity. The effects can last up to 36 hours, allowing for flexibility.
  • Daily use: Take one lower-dose tablet at the same time each day, regardless of sexual activity.

Do not take more than one dose in 24 hours. Cialis® can be taken with or without food, but avoid consuming excessive alcohol as it may increase the risk of side effects like dizziness or low blood pressure. Always follow your doctor’s instructions.

What should I tell my healthcare provider before taking Cialis®?

Before using Cialis®, inform your doctor about your medical history and any medications or supplements you are currently taking. In particular, let them know if you:

  • Have heart problems, such as angina, irregular heartbeat, or a history of a heart attack or stroke.
