Ideal Weight Calculator

This calculator compares four classic clinical formulas — Devine, Robinson, Miller, and Hamwi — against the healthy BMI bands used globally and across Asia-Pacific, so you can see your ideal weight as a range rather than a single number.

Assigned sex

Measure your wrist: small < 6.5 in, medium 6.5–7.5 in, large > 7.5 in.

The Ideal Weight Calculator is only an estimate of a healthy weight range based upon factors, including height, assigned sex, and frame size. The calculator may not accurately reflect the ideal weight of individuals of a specific race/ethnic group, those with high muscle mass, pregnant women, children, the elderly, or those with specific health conditions. The calculator should not be used as a sole diagnostic tool.

The calculator does not determine eligibility for any weight-loss medications or treatments provided via &you. Consultation with a licensed healthcare provider is required to assess suitability for any medical treatment based on individual health and medical history.

Which formula is right?

None is definitively 'right' — they were developed decades apart for different purposes. Devine (1974) is the one clinicians use for drug dosing. The BMI range is the most evidence-based for general health. Use all of them as a band, not a single number.

What's the Asian BMI adjustment?

The WHO Western Pacific office sets healthy BMI at 18.5–22.9 for Asian adults, reflecting higher cardiometabolic risk at lower BMI in Asian populations. The narrower range shifts your 'ideal' weight down accordingly.

How do I know my frame size?

Wrap your thumb and middle finger around your opposite wrist. If they overlap: small frame. Just meet: medium. Don't meet: large. Or measure wrist circumference — men: small <6.5 in, large >7 in; women: small <5.5 in, large >6 in.
