It scores how you answer five questions about the past six months, and cannot account for medication, injury, or the cardiovascular, hormonal, and psychological factors that often sit behind a low score. A low result warrants a conversation with a clinician, not a self-diagnosis.

What is the IIEF-5?

The International Index of Erectile Function, 5-question version, also known as the Sexual Health Inventory for Men (SHIM). Developed by Rosen et al. (1999) and widely used in urology clinics as the first-line screening tool.

What do the score bands mean?

22 to 25 no ED, 17 to 21 mild, 12 to 16 mild-moderate, 8 to 11 moderate, 5 to 7 severe. A score below 22 generally warrants a conversation with a clinician, not self-medication.

My score is low. What next?

ED is often a symptom of something else, cardiovascular, hormonal, psychological, or medication-related. A clinician can run a proper work-up, rule out underlying causes, and prescribe treatment (PDE5 inhibitors are first-line for most cases).
